Sourdough Oatmeal Coconut Cookies

   Sourdough Oatmeal Coconut Cookies

   1/2      cup              shortening
   1 1/2   cups             brown sugar
   2         each             eggs
   1/2      cup              buttermilk
   1/2      cup              sourdough start
   2         cups             flour
   1         teaspoon      baking powder
   1         teaspoon      soda
   1         teaspoon      salt
   1         teaspoon      cinnamon
   1/2      teaspoon      allspice
   1 1/2   cups             rolled oats
   1 1/2   cups             flaked or shredded coconut
   1         cup              raisins
   1/2      cup              chopped nutmeats

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Stir in buttermilk and start. Add dry ingredients and stir well. Fold in rolled oats, coconut, raisins and nuts. Drop small gobs onto cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
