             Carmel Pudding Cake

   2         cups                 packed brown sugar -- Syrup
   3         cups                 water -- Syrup
   2         Tablespoons     butter -- Syrup
   3         Tablespoons     shortening
   1 1/2   cups                 sugar
   3/4      teaspoon          salt
   1         teaspoon          vanilla
   3        cups                  flour
   1/2     teaspoon           soda
   1        teaspoon           cinnamon
   1 1/2  cups                  milk
   2        cups                  raisins -- Optional
   1        cup                   chopped pecans
   1        cup                   water

Syrup- 2 cups packed brown sugar
            3 cups water
            2 Tablespoons butter
Bring to a boil and set aside

Cake:
Cream shortening & sugar. Add vanilla. Mix dry ingredients. Add alternately with milk. Stir in raisins (with/water) & nuts. Pour into 12" Dutch Oven pour syrup over. Bake at 350 Degrees for 30-45 minutes.
