Beef Stew

                        Beef Stew

   1      package         Au Jus gravy
   1      each               bay leaf
   2      pounds           stew meat
   1      package         brown gravy mix
   3      each               carrots, potatoes
   1      each               onion
   3      stalks             celery
                                 cauliflower and broccoli
   2      Tablespoons   cornstarch
   3      Tablespoons   vegetable oil
                                 salt & pepper
   1/2    cup                water

Start by browning the meat in a small amount of oil.  Next add the vegetables and the salt and pepper.  Add enough water to cover the contents and bring to a boil.  Cook until the carrots and potatoes are tender.  At this point, add 2 Tablespoon cornstarch to 1/2 cup water and stir into stew.  Cook until stew thickens.  Serve this meal with some sourdough rolls
