Apple Dumplings
1 each 10" Dutch oven 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 Tablespoon sugar 5 each apples, grated -- 3 to 5 apples 2 cups flour 1/2 cup shortening 1/2 cup milk cinnamon
Sauce: 2 cups sugar 1/2 cup butter 2 cups water
Start by making dough and rolling it out on a floured surface. Spread the grated apples on the dough and sprinkle with cinnamon to taste. Roll up the dough, Much like cinnamon rolls and cut into slices 1 to 1 1/2" thick. Place in an oiled or foil-lined oven.
Prepare the sauce by bringing the sugar water, and butter to a boil. Now pour it over the uncooked dumplings. Bake for one hour at 350 degrees. Serve with a big scoop of ice cream.
